Installing Astroguard on Brick Veneers

Astroguard can be installed over brick veneers just as it can over siding and stucco, using a long anchor that penetrates through the brick and into the wood framing underneath.

The installation procedure is the same as for other substrates, with a few differences. General installation instructions are here: https://www.capefearhurricanefabric.com/hurricanefabricinstallation

Differences for brick installation are:

- only drill through mortar joints, not through brick itself.

- Make sure you are close enough to the window to be drilling into the wood studs beside the window.

- Drill through the mortar joint with 7/16" drill bit deep enough for head of anchor to sit flush.

- finish drilling through mortar with smaller masonry bit if needed

- drill carefully 2" deep into wood stud with long wood bit

- Drive anchors in until close to flush with mortar/brick. Sometimes the mortar joint is thinner than the head of the anchor; if this is the case do not drive the anchor too far in or it may pop the brick loose from the mortar.
